EXP_2_17: The Overall Design Process For My Model

Here are the overall design process for my final model, it includes how  the model was developed. From top to bottom is from the first model to the final model, from left to right are: Overall view, Yakov Chernikov's monument, Weiss/Manfredi's monument., and the meeting space.

EXP_2_16: Developed Model With Light Applied On It

Here is the latest development on my model. In this design,  I use light to show different circulation people can have when they walk between two monuments- they can either walk on the straight  column or circular shape stairs.

EXP_2_15: Things that I am going to improve on my submission

I received Shaowen's email this evening and she pointed out some details that I can further develop on my model, and I'm going to do it now.

The details that I should develop are:
1. "The captured images are mostly too bright showing the prismatic cluster all lumped together. Should plan to apply textures onto certain area to highlight the 2 separate monuments."

2. "The relationship between built form and landform hasn't been further developed yet. Avoid the end result that the monumental cluster simply sits on the flat ground."

THEREFORE:
At first, the reason why my images were mostly too bright is because white was the only color I used in my model, in order to avoid it, I changed the texture color into orange and blue. As orange is warm color and blue is cold color, it provide a strong contract when people look at it.

The color used on Yakov Chernikov's monument is orange because his building is very powerful and orange, in my understanding, represents passion and power.

Blue is the color applied on Weiss/Manfredi's monument. As you can see in picture, the building is almost "invisible" and be "part of landscape". I got this idea from one of Weiss/Manfredi's very famous design project---Brooklyn Botanic Garden Visitor Center.

Secondly, in order to avoid the end result that the monumental cluster simply sits on the flat ground, I did some change on my landform design so that it is not just a flat land. I create a pond behind the meeting space in order to let the landform looks more interesting. Also, I tried to let Weiss/Manfredi's monument be rise- and - fall along undulating land form so that people inside the monument can get a feeling that be part of the environment.

EXP_2_12: Further Development On My SketchUp Model

Here are my latest development for my muniment design. As two monuments were too close in my previous design, I separated it into two parts so that people can see the separation of these two muniments clearly.

EXP_2_10: Developed Sketchup Model

Design Concept: complex is simple because concept can be formed by repetition of similar patterns.

This is the monument for Yakov Chrnikohv. After many research, I realize that his building is always vertical. As a result, I design this monument that consisted of similar vertical prisms. What I want to point out is the L shape part, when people walk inside here and want to view outside, they will see outside in vertical view as a result of the L shape used here.

This is the monument for Weiss and Manfredi. As compare to Yakov Chenikov, their building is horizontal and very flat and quiet. I designed a very low roof in their monument so that when people was inside their monument, they will forced to look flat as the result of the use of low roof. The monument is consisted by repetition of similar horizontal prisms.

This is the meeting point between two monument. I havent finish the design for this part. I t should be on the river and maybe I'll put some terrace on the river.. haha havnt decide yet =D

EXP_2_9: Overall View for Land Form Design

Due to many researches and my own understanding of these two architects, I design this archipelago to match the two monuments and this is the overview for my designed land form.

EXP_2_8: Further Development On Model Design

This is Yakov Chernikov's monument. As his building is always vertical and has strong feeling of existing. I put his monument on the top of a waterfall (as waterfall is also vertical and has strong feeling). When people in his monument, they can get a feeling of strong building and strong waterfall.

This is the meeting point of two monument. I put it on a river. As Yakov Chrnikov's monument is on the top of a waterfall and Weiss//Manfredi's monument is on the solid land. The between space is on the river and it will be the transition of these two Landforms.

This is the monument for Weiss and manredi. It is on a solid land and when people walk in their monument, they will have a very relax mood and feel that they have be part of environment.
